Queries

Run SQL, CQL or the command format your database uses.

Docs

Run a query

Open a query tab with ⌘T / Ctrl+T. Check the connection and database shown on the tab, then enter your query.

Use ⌘Enter / Ctrl+Enter to run the selected text, or the entire editor when nothing is selected. ⇧⌘Enter / Ctrl+Shift+Enter runs the entire editor even when text is selected. SQL execution accepts one statement at a time; a multi-statement script is rejected. Select one statement to run it on its own.

Writes open a review before execution. Commands that can delete or rewrite many rows, or change a table’s structure, need an additional confirmation. Production profiles refuse writes.

Command formats

SQL databases use SQL, and Cassandra uses CQL. Document and search engines use JSON commands. Redis and Valkey use a JSON array of command arguments.

["GET", "example:key"]

For Firestore, a read command can list a collection:

{"op":"list","path":"customers","limit":100}

Realtime Database uses paths relative to the connection’s starting path:

{"op":"get","path":"customers/ada"}

The console supports engine-specific commands. It doesn’t expose an unrestricted shell, arbitrary REST routes or every administration operation.

Save and reopen

In a query tab, press ⌘S / Ctrl+S to save the query. Find it again in Saved queries. It reopens on the connection and database it was saved with.

File → Open Query File… opens an SQL file. History is stored on this computer and can be turned off or cleared in Settings. Statements containing credentials are excluded from history and restored drafts.

Export

Use File → Export Page as CSV… or Export Page as JSON…. The export contains the loaded result page. It doesn’t stream the whole table.

Results are capped at 1,000 rows and 16 MiB. Loading another page or narrowing your query is the way to work through a larger result.

Stop a query

Use the Stop control or ⌘. / Ctrl+.. Cancellation depends on the database driver and provider.

A stopped or timed-out write may already have reached the server. Check its outcome before running it again.
