Install
Your Lemon Squeezy receipt gives you access to the downloads. The Mac build works on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 14 or later. The Windows build is for 64-bit Windows 10 or later.
- Mac: unzip the download and move Query Anvil.app to Applications.
- Windows: run QueryAnvil-windows-x64-setup.exe. If you prefer the portable ZIP, extract the whole folder and open Query Anvil.exe. Keep its accompanying files in that folder.
The Windows download is currently unsigned, so Windows or an organisation’s security policy may warn about or block it. Check with your administrator if installation is blocked; don’t disable your security protections.
Open License in Settings to activate with the key from your receipt. See Licensing for the steps.
Try the sample
- Open Query Anvil.
In Connections, choose Open the sample database. It’s a small shop database named Workshop.
- Pick a table.
Choose customers in the sidebar. Select a row to see its fields in the inspector.
- Run a query.
Open a query tab with ⌘T on Mac or Ctrl+T on Windows. Paste the example below and run it with ⌘Enter or Ctrl+Enter.

LIMIT 20;The sample is a local SQLite database. It doesn’t connect to a server or use any of your existing data.
Find your way around
The sidebar lists tables, views and your workspace pages. Connections switches databases, Saved queries holds queries you’ve kept, and History lists commands you’ve run.
Use Go to… or ⌘K / Ctrl+K to jump to a table or action. Settings has the full keyboard shortcut list.
